The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze can confirm the signing of 28-year-old American netminder C.J. Motte (Stats).
The 6’0” St. Clair, MI native joins the club from HC Innsbruck where he played 16 times this season in the Austrian EBEL.
Previously he has iced near 200 games in the AHL and ECHL, notably being named an ECHL All-Star in 2016/17 whilst with Quad City Mallards.
Prior to turning pro, Motte was a regular award winner and All-Star in the NCAA with Ferris State University.
Motte will arrive in Coventry this week and make his Blaze debut on Saturday in Guildford before playing at the Skydome Arena for the first time vs. Flames on Sunday (5.30pm).
The Blaze would like thank Jamie Phillips who departs the club with our very best wishes for the future. The Canadian played 33 times in Elite League competitions after arriving this past summer.
Head Coach Danny Stewart said, “We thank Jamie for his contribution this season. He has been nothing but a model professional and a popular person in the room, but we have simply just decided to move in a different direction. We wish him all the very best going forwards."
Stewart continued, "We are pleased to welcome C.J. to the club. He brings a wealth of experience and has put up excellent numbers throughout his career. We look forward to having him in the line-up this weekend. We would also like to thank the Blaze Booster Club who have supported us in making this adjustment to the line-up.”
