Broll awarded associate captaincy role
Genting Casino Coventry Blaze Head Coach Danny Stewart has awarded Canadian forward David Broll with an associate captaincy role for the remainder of the 2019/20 Elite League season.
Broll will join the current captaincy group, headed by Drew Schiestel and his associates Luke Ferrara and Ross Venus.
The 26-year-old joined the Blaze this past summer and has proved an instant hit inside the locker room and with the club’s supporters.
The former Toronto Maple Leaf brings a wealth of experience having iced in the NHL 5 times and the AHL on near 300 occasions.
Stewart said, “We decided to add ‘Broller’ to our leadership group for many reasons. He’s a big presence in the room, but a positive one. He’s well liked in the room and a guy that looks out for his teammates on and off the ice. Your leaders must care, and he does. He plays the right way and he complements our current group very well.”
