Bruton named EIHL Player of the Week
The Elite League Player of the Week is Genting Casino Coventry Blaze forward Chris Bruton who played a key role in his side reaching the playoff semi-finals.
Bruton scored one goal and helped make three others as the Blaze beat the Sheffield Steelers 5-3 at the Skydome Arena.
He was then instrumental in Sunday’s 3-3 draw at the Sheffield Arena as the Blaze became the first 8th place team to reach the final-four weekend in Elite League history.
Bruton’s four point haul was the most of any player in the quarter-final stage of the playoffs.
Blaze Head Coach, Chuck Weber said: "Chris was fantastic against Sheffield. His game is built for playoff hockey. We look forward to him continuing to be a catalyst for us this weekend."
Chris Bruton commented, "Winning player of the week at this stage in the year really means nothing as the weight and importance of winning the playoffs comes from a complete team effort and guys buying in, whether it be blocking shots, finishing hits and playing hard. Those are the undocumented stats that really prove your contributing the most. In saying that, I wouldn't be in this position without my two line-mates in particular (Carl) Lauzon and Robbo (Brett Robinson) and all the guys as well so thank you."
