Reasons to Join us for Devils Cup clash
On Sunday, the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze face the Cardiff Devils in a huge Cup clash at the Skydome Arena (5.15pm). Here's some reasons to join us:
Because it's our home
And the Skydome Arena been a fortress in recent weeks, thanks to YOU our amazing supporters. As Head Coach Danny Stewart says, “The guys love it when the building’s full and noisy. They feed off it and it helps to make this a tough place to play.” Same again please on Sunday!
Because we’re up against the holders
Cardiff Devils lifted the trophy last year, defeating the Sheffield Steelers at Ice Arena Wales. It was their second cup victory in three years so it’s a competition that they hold in high regard. They’ll be leaving everything out on the ice in the battle for progression from group B (see the current standings).
Because you could go VIP
There are a limited number of tickets remaining for the VIP Crowngate SkyLounge. Offering breath taking views of the ice, a game-night spent in the SkyLounge will provide you with an evening to enjoy and remember for a long time. You can find out more about this amazing experience and purchase tickets online, here.
And we’ll be wearing our very special Coventry 2021 Challenge Cup jerseys, backing the City of Culture bid.
You can own a game-worn Cup jersey via the auction (see here). Jerseys still available include Kevn Nastiuk, Dax Lauwers (pictured below), Gaelan Patterson, Ross Venus, David Clements, Garrett Ladd, Vojtech Kloz, Brython Preece, Edgars Bebris and more! The jerseys are also available to order as replicas from the Fanzone on the night.
Because It Takes Balls to Talk
If you have experienced, or know somebody struggling with their Mental Health, visit the It Takes Balls to Talk stand to seek advice and find out about the amazing work that they are doing to encourage people, particularly men to have positive conversations about their mental health and wellbeing.
Because the Leaders are Leading
The Blaze player/Assistant Coach and Captain have been on fire in the Challenge Cup so far, each posting 5 points in the two games played. Brett Robinson with 3 goals, 2 assists, Jordan Pietrus on 2 goals, 3 assists.
Because Vally is going for 7 straight
Two goals in the opening minute against the Belfast Giants last Sunday (the quickest ever Blaze player to score twice) took his tally to 9 (4 game-winners) with 4 assists too in 10 games. Against the Devils he’s looking to score in his 7th consecutive home game, Ryan Ginand the last to manage that in 2014.
To add, you could win the Coventry 2021 Challenge Cup Jersey straight off the back of #88 in the Southam Agri game worn shirt raffle. Tickets just £1 each.
Because you could turn your old pound coins into hundreds of notes
The legal tender status of the old round £1 coin will be withdrawn from 23.59 on Sunday. So, bring any old coins you have left to the game, buy Suretax 50/50 tickets and you could be walking home with hundreds of pounds in crisp notes.
Because we’re 'Ladd All Over'
We were delighted to see the big smile of Garrett Ladd as he made a scoring return to the line-up last weekend. The Blaze #13 says there’s plenty more to come.
