Stars hit seven to defeat Blaze
The Genting Casino Coventry Blaze suffered a 7-3 defeat to the Dundee Stars in Scotland on Saturday night.
Dundee’s man-of-the-match Kevin Dufour scored his first of two at just 1.07 before Jordan Cownie, also with a double on the night, made it 2-0 timed 3.40 on the powerplay.
Coventry fought-back from the early set-back managing to tie the game 2-2 with goals from Luke Ferrara (13.25) and Dillon Lawrence (22.00).
With the man advantage, Justin Maylan put the Stars ahead again just before the half-way mark (29.52) but Blaze again hit back through Andrew Johnston at 33.26.
With two goals in quick succession from Cownie (33.43) and Dufour (35.13) the Stars took a hold of the game again and this time there was no way back for the visitors as Anthony Beauregard made it 6-3 (40.59).
The goal was Beauregard’s 4th point of the game and meant the end of the night for Blaze goalie Jamie Phillips as he was replaced by Brit Jordan Hedley.
Eglis Kalns with a huge one-timer completed the scoring with just less than ten minutes remaining (49.06) as Blaze were forced to endure the long journey home reflecting upon a 7-3 defeat.
