United for Calds but it's war this weekend

Genting Casino Coventry Blaze face the Sheffield Steelers back-to-back this weekend, first in a crucial Challenge Cup encounter on Saturday at the Sheffield Arena (7pm), then in the Elite League back home at the Skydome Arena on Sunday (5.15pm).

Whilst the two teams came together this past Tuesday night to support Adam Calder, there will be no good-will come puck drop on Saturday night.

The Blaze are desperate for Challenge Cup points following a 2-3 overtime defeat to the Cardiff Devils last Sunday whilst Sheffield, rocked by the immediate departure of Tyler Mosienko are looking for a chance to win the group with victory over Blaze.

In the previous meeting of the two in the Challenge Cup (and the only competitive game so far this season), it was the Steelers who were victorious by a score of 3-4 at the Skydome (report & highlights).

The current Challenge Cup standings are as follows:

Following Saturday's game, the remaining fixtures are:

Sunday November 6th: Blaze vs. Storm at the Skydome.

Friday November 11th: Panthers vs. Blaze at the Motorpoint Arena.

Sunday November 13th: Devils vs. Storm at Ice Arena Wales.
