Venus banned for one game
Genting Casino Coventry Blaze forward Ross Venus will miss this Saturday's clash against the Cardiff Devils at the Skydome Arena after being handed a match penalty for checking to the head of Fife Flyers' Philippe Paquet this past Saturday night.
The Fife Flyers requested the review and after considering the evidence of both the referees report and the video footage, Venus has been handed a match penalty for checking to the head by the Elite League's Department of Player Safety.
This carries an automatic one match ban. In this case the onus was on Venus to ensure that he hit his opponent cleanly, without causing injury. The impact of the collision forced the Fife players face into the plexi in a dangerous manner.
