500 for Venus in MK
British forward Ross Venus will make his 500th total appearance for the Genting Casino Coventry Blaze tonight against Milton Keynes Lightning at Planet Ice Arena, MK.
It’s a remarkable achievement for the Solihull born player who at just 23 years-old becomes the sixth player to make 500 career appearances for Coventry, after Russ Cowley, Tom Watkins, Ashley Tait, Mathias Soderstrom and James Pease.
The number 59 who progressed through the club’s academy system famously scored the game-winning-goal as Blaze won the Elite League Playoff Championship in 2015.
In 2016 he made his senior Team Great Britain debut, scoring his first goal in the World Championships. Last season he enjoyed his most productive Elite League year to date registering 9 goals, 11 assists for 20 points.
Head Coach Danny Stewart said, "500 games at this level is a great achievement. To do it at such a young age is even more impressive. Ross has been a tremendous servant of this club, and continues to grow as a player and person each season. He is a big piece of our team here in Coventry, and let’s hope he plays another 500 for our club!"
