Christmas Food Drop on Thursday

Christmas is a fun time, but it’s also an important time for giving. Blaze fans have shown huge amounts of generosity over recent weeks in support of the present drop, for children of University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Charity (UHCW), and Air the Bear, in support of the British Heart Foundation.

On Thursday, we are calling on our fans again, and those of the Sheffield Steelers to help us with an arranged Christmas Food Drop - once again in conjunction with our friends from PET Xi.

The Food Donations will be in support of  the Coventry Open Christmas Food Drive.

Fans are asked to please bring non-perishable food items to the game (Skydome Arena, 7.30pm face-off vs. the Steelers) and donate it at the PET Xi stand (open/Fanzone end of the arena).

All food collected will be donated to the Open Christmas Centre on Friday 23rd December.

We thank you all for your support in advance!

Nationally renowned and winner of the Small Business of the Year Award at the recent Coventry Telegraph Business Awards, PET-Xi have over 20 years’ experience of working with hundreds of schools across the UK to deliver intensive, results-based interventions for young people who are at risk of not achieving their academic potential.

About: Coventry Open Christmas

"During Christmas 1991 it was recognised by one of our founders that there was a real need for a shelter for the homeless who were arriving in Coventry simply to get a meal at Holy Trinity Church.

The very next year the Coventry Open Christmas shelter opened its doors for the very first time, as a ‘one night only’ project. This proved to be a roaring success and so much so that it has now grown from those very humble origins to a shelter that is now preparing to open its door’s this Christmas for the 25th time for five nights, staying open for 24 hours a day!

Our aim is simple; to provide warmth, shelter and hot food to those who need it the most and to provide to those who have no one else company and a friendly smile. No one need ever be lonely or hungry at a time of year that is all about goodwill to all men, no matter what their present circumstances." - Mike Parker / Founder
